Bollywood actor Kiara Advani is all set to debut at the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival, held annually in France. She will be representing India at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala dinner hosted by Vanity Fair at Cannes on May 18.
The event will celebrate the incredible and visionary women who have been instrumental in changing the entertainment industry. Joining Kiara on the panel are Egyptian actor and model Salma Abu-Deif, actor Adhwa Fahad, actor-singer Aseel Omran, actor-model-singer Sarocha Chankimha, and Senegalese director-screenwriter Ramata Toulaye Sy.
Apart from Kiara, actor Sobhita Dhulipala will also make her debut at the film festival this year.
Making their comeback, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari will attend the event this year as ambassadors for L’Oreal. While Aishwarya made her debut back in 2002 in her iconic golden saree, Aditi made her first appearance in 2022.
This year’s Cannes is set to be quite special for India, as for the first time in three decades, the country has a feature film – Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light – in the Palm d’Or competition section. The last Indian film nominated for the reputable award was the Malayalam drama Swaham (1994), directed by Shaji N. Karun.
The 77th film festival will be held from May 14 to May 25. With a focus on confidence and self-empowerment, the theme of this year is ‘Many Ways To Be An Icon.’
Alongside actor Ram Charan, Kiara will be seen in the political thriller Game Changer, directed by S. Shankar. Her upcoming projects include Don 3 and the YRF Spy Universe’s War 2.
