New Hunger Games Prequel Film On Suzanne Collins Novel Gets Release Date

Suzanne Collins is once again returning to the post-apocalyptic land of Panem for the release of the fifth volume of Collin’s blockbuster dystopian series, Hunger Games.

The announcement of the release of a new Hunger Games prequel book as well as film based on the novel is in process. After the most recent release of the movie ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, the new film adaptation of the upcoming novel ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ will be released on March 18, 2025.

All the book in the series were turned into a successful movie franchise. The ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ will revisit the land of Panem 24 years before the events of the Hunger Games trilogy and 40 years after the events of ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’.

The story of the novel revolves around the events of the 50th Hunger Games. Haymitch Abernathy, the mentor of Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta in the 74th Hunger Games, will be the centre of the story.

The Second Quarter Quell is legendary and it loomed over history, even into the time of Katniss Everdeen a quarter-century later. Haymitch was the only winner from the District 12 before Katniss Everdeen and this made the 50th Hunger Games noteworthy. Haymitch, later just like any of the victors went on to become a mentor to tributes representing his district.

Though the rights of the novel haven’t been announced yet, one could surely assume that it would follow the path of the last released movie. Collins has earlier revealed that the famous Hunger Games trilogy was inspired from Greek mythology and the Roman gladiator games. Similarly, for the upcoming novel, she cited Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume.

The the Hunger Games film franchise was a huge success at the box office claiming $3.3 billion with ‘Catching Fire’ being the highest grosser. However, the last released film ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ didn’t live up to the original saga.
