American actor Bill Cobbs, known for his soulful screen presence passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday. The news of his death was confirmed by his family on Facebook.

As per the reports, Cobbs died peacefully from natural causes at his home in Inland Empire, California. The veteran actor who was born in Cleveland, Ohio was known for his memorable supporting roles in films like The Bodyguard, Night at the Museum, and The Color of Money.

He died peacefully on Tuesday night, said his brother Thomas G. Cobbs. He remembered him as “a beloved partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather and friend”.

Being a lifelong actor, the lion share of his work came in his 50s, 60s, and 70s. Cobbs rarely acted in kind of major roles that stood out and won awards. Instead, he became a familiar and memorable face who had the talent to leave a lasting impression on fans’ minds.

Cobbs has said earlier that acting for him resonated as a way to express the human condition, in particular during the civil rights movement in the late 60s.

“Art is somewhat of a prayer, isn’t it? We respond to what we see around us and what we feel and how things affect us mentally and spiritually,” he said during an interview.

He began his career in the 1970s with a minor role in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. Over the years, he racked up over 200 films and TV credits.
