SS Rajamouli has come up with exciting news for the Prabhas’ starrer ‘Baahubali’ fans. During the ‘Baahubali: Crown of Blood’ event in Hyderabad, Rajamouli revealed his vision to expand the ‘Baahubali’ universe across various mediums.
Meanwhile, recently, the filmmaker has given the fans of the epic saga something to look forward to by unveiling the trailer of the upcoming animated series based on the franchise, Baahubali: Crown of Blood.
During the pre-launch event held at AMB Cinemas, Rajamouli emphasized the need to explore diverse storytelling platforms beyond traditional film.
He then referred to the trend set in the West of taking successful brands beyond just cinema into multimedia ventures, saying, “When a brand is created in the West, it goes multi-media. We”ve tried making games, a VR film, and a series for “Baahubali” so far. But, nothing worked out as expected,” reports India Today.
Rajamouli referring to their previous attempt at expansion into different levels, including ventures into gaming, virtual reality and series production, said that the efforts were not met up to his expectations. But about the recent animated series helmed by the creator Sharad Devarajan, Rajamouli expressed optimism about the franchise’s expansion.
“Baahubali” is going to go forward not just with animated series. It is going to expand in many other ways and medium. This is not the platform to talk about it,” he said.
Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda agreeing with Rajamouli said, “”Baahubali” films are only one part of a whole. It has multiple parts to it for becoming a tentpole franchise. This is adult entertainment, in the sense, it is meant for everyone beyond kids. We wanted people to come into the world of “Baahubali” in multiple ways. We have so much more in store.”
The upcoming animated series will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from May 17 in multiple languages. Shard Kelkar had lent his voice to the series.
