The RSS mouthpiece Organizer has once again published an article, slamming Malayalam actor Mohanlal for appearing at an event in the UAE. The actor was targeted by the BJP’s ideological arm for attending Sharjah Expo organised by Gulf Madhyamam, an international Indian newspaper, and also an offshoot of popular Malayalam daily Madhyamam.

The now-deleted article, published on May 13, said Mohanlal’s action were seen as a betrayal when India is under constant attack by Pakistani terrorists. Noting that his participation in the programme was “highly ironic and troubling,” the article claimed the actor was honoured by an organisation allegedly intent on turning India into an Islamic state.

The publication also questioned the Thudarum actor’s honorary Lt Colonel rank, seeking the revocation of the title. It also targeted Mohanlal for acting in the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial Empuraan, released in March, calling the movie a pro-terror film.

In March, when Empuraan hit threats, the Organizer strongly criticised the Malayalam star, for playing the lead role, claiming that the movie was meant to whitewash terrorism and distort history. Empuraan had sparked fury among right-wing groups for its portrayal of the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Meanwhile, Malayalam actors including Mammootty and Mohanlal have expressed support for Operation Sindoor, India launched in response to the Pahalgam attacks, targeting Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir-based terror camps on April 22. Saluting the Indian army, Mohanlal wrote, “We wore Sindoor not just as a tradition, but as a symbol of our unwavering resolve. Challenge us, and we will rise, fearless and stronger than ever.”

Muslim organisations, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, have also expressed solidarity with India’s armed forces, stating that action taken by them against terrorism is being supported by the entire country.  Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani, supporting the army, stressed that the defense of the nation is an unwavering commitment.
