After witnessing a dull performance at the box office, the third installment of Kamal Haasan’s political thriller franchise, Indian 3, seems to have been planned for a direct release at OTT platforms.
As per reports, the decision is a result of the lack of a strong buzz around the upcoming sequel. After facing a weak performance at the box office and the losses incurred over the release, Lyca Productions is reportedly focusing on a way to revive the loss. The film didn’t just appear as a big black blot on Kamal Haasan’s career but also made things difficult for the production house financially.

The production house seems to have planned to release the third installment of the Indian franchise on Netflix. Even though there is official confirmation from the team yet, it appears the makers have lost all trust in the franchise and are looking for a final way out.
Making its comeback after a decade, the second and the third part of the Shankar directorial were shot together and thus underwent multiple delays in its production. With physical and ideological hindrances like the major accident on the sets and then the reported creative differences between Haasan and Shankar, the film faced struggles prior to its release.

Though touted as a grand film, Indian 2 failed to meet the expectations of fans of Kamal Haasan or Shankar fans as it went to the zone of predictability from the beginning. The movie evades this factor only when it approaches the end credits and when the viewer gets to know that a third part awaits them.
Interestingly, Indian 3 seems more promising with more action from pre-independence era and from the present day, as Senapathy is in the hands of law finally.
Despite the disappointments, the film collected Rs 151 crore in its theatrical run. Apart from Kamal Hassan, the film also features Kajal Agarwal, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Kalidas Jayaram, Samuthirakani, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu and Vivek among others.
