Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan on Monday took his Instagram and announced the teaser release date of his upcoming movie Ayalaan, a science fiction, directed by Ravikumar.

The actor posted a picture in which the Academy award winner A R Rahman is also present and officially announced that the teaser of the film will be released on October 6, 2023. Mr Rahman is doing music for the film and is seen in the image working on his instruments at the studio.

The movie will hit the screens in January 2024 as a Pongal release. Pongal or Thai Pongal, is a multi-day Hindu harvest festival celebrated by Tamils in India and Sri Lanka in the month of January.

“Ayalaan” in Tamil language means neighbour. The film revolves around an alien, a neighbour to the humans on Earth from an outside celestial body. The picture that went viral on social media also features a model of the alien which is spotted as looking and pointing to the computer screen on which A R Rahman is displaying something.

“With Ayalaan… For Ayalaan”, wrote Sivakarthikeyan as the image caption on Instagram with an alien emoji.

The movie will be the first full-length Live-Action film in Indian cinema with more than 400 VFX shots having the alien character in a pivotal full-length role, reported the Times of India.

The renowned music director Mr Rahman also posted the image on X (formerly Twitter) and updated the fans as they are doing the “final works” of Ayalaan”s teaser.

The movie has a talented bunch of artists in the cast catalogue including Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role along with Rakul Preet Singh, Sharad Kelkar, and Isha Koppikar.

Ayalaan was announced in October 2016, and the bulk of shooting took place from June 2018 to January 2021, with a few reshoots in November 2022. The broadcast rights of the movie, which is produced by R D Raja, were purchased by Sun TV.
