Actor Suriya’s Kanguva witnessed a disastrous run at the box office on its release. Despite high anticipations, the film disappointed the audience and was widely criticised for its technical issues and thunderous sound effects.

The film’s underperformance at the box office has highly impacted the makers, pushing producer Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green into the depths of financial issues. The massive financial loss incurred due to Kanguva also halted the release of his other productions.

One such film, Vaa Vaathiyaare, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and starring Karthik and Krithi Shetty, was completed months ago but remains unreleased due to financial hurdles. Now, in order to support and to compensate the loss incurred, Suriya has agreed to collaborate in two upcoming projects under the production house.

The actor is currently in discussion with prominent Telugu and Malayalam directors to finalise the projects. As per reports, an official announcement about Suriya’s upcoming projects is expected to be announced soon.

Kanguva Budget and the Significant Loss:

Made with a massive budget of Rs 350 crore, the film was jointly produced by Studio Green and UV Creations. Despite high expectations, the film struggled to perform commercially and failed to even cross Rs 150 crore mark.

The pan-Indian film, released in nine different languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and international languages like English, French, Spanish and Russian, managed to collect just Rs 106 crores during its theatrical release.
