The much-awaited Vijay-starrer Leo was released in theatres on Thursday, October 19. Leo, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has collected Rs 64 crore net on its first day, as per trade portal Sacnilk. It is the biggest opening for a Kollywood film in India. Also, Seven Screen Studios informed that the movie”s worldwide gross collection is 148.5 crores.

This figure is one of the highest ever in the history of Tamil cinema. Leo has already surpassed the Bollywood movie Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. Jawan had an opening gross of Rs 129.1 crore. If this incredible run continues at the box office, the film could register a Rs 500 crore opening weekend.

Leo is the second collaboration between director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay after Master, released in 2021. Apart from Vijay, the movie also features Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mansoor Ali Khan. This movie is actress Trisha’s fifth collaboration with Vijay after a gap of 15 years. It is to be noted that both Vijay and Trisha were last seen together in the 2008 film Kuruvi. Produced by Seven Screen Studio, the music for Leo has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Apart from Tamil, the film was also released in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
