“Will Be Humiliating”: Akshay Kumar Urges Fans To Stay Off Phones During ‘Kesari 2’

Akshay Kumar is currently promoting his upcoming period film Kesari Chapter 2. Ahead of the film’s release, the Kesari team organized a special premiere of the film in New Delhi. During the interaction, the actor shared a special message for the fans.

Produced by Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films & Leo  Media Collective, Kesari Chapter 2 stars Akshay, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. Featuring the life of Advocate C. Sankaran Nair, the film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, delves into the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Amidst great anticipation, the film is set to hit the theatres on April 18.

Akshay Kumar’s special request

During the film’s premiere in New Delhi, Akshay urged all Indians to watch the film and learn about the horrific chapter of the country’s past. He also humbly requested the fans to keep their phones away while watching the film and to listen to every dialogue of the film.

He further added, “If you try to check your Instagram during the movie, it will be a humiliation for the film. So I request everyone to keep their phones away.”

Special screenings of Kesari Chapter 2 have been held in regions like Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also attended the preview.

Ahead of the film’s release, the team paid their respects at Jallianwala Bagh. Akshay, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday paid their tribute to the victims of the 1919 massacre.

Kesari Chapter 2 Advance Booking

The advance booking of the periodic entertainer commenced today, April 16. As per reports, the film sold 4,034 tickets for 1,948 shows and brought in Rs 12,65,298 so far.

The average ticket price is below Rs 250 across the country. The NCR region leads the pre-sales among big cities, bringing in over Rs 3.54 lakh gross with blocked seats. Mumbai and Bengaluru are a close second with over Rs 1.48 lakh each.

Kesari Chapter 2, a sequel to Akshay’s 2019 film Kesari, tells the story of how Chettur Sankaran Nair stood up to the British Crown after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. Akshay plays Sankaran in the film, while Madhavan plays his opposing lawyer, Neville McKinley, and Ananya plays Dilreet Gill. The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire (2019) by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
