“You Gave Me…”: Abhishek Bachchan’s Heartfelt Note To Late Doom Director Sanjay Gadhvi

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan on Sunday took to his social media handles and paid tribute to late Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi. Mr Gandhvi died from a heart attack in Mumbai, on November 19 at the age of 59. He is primarily known for the first two installments of the Dhoom series, a Hindi-language action thriller-film franchise which had plot lines revolving around the character played by Abhishek Bachchan. Dhoom released to theatres in 2004 and Dhoom 2: Back In Action in 2006.

Mr Bachchan took two photographs, which were shot while the team was filming the climax of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. “I took this photo of Sanjay whilst we were filming the climax of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. We made 2 films together – Dhoom and Dhoom 2“, he wrote.

Mr Bachchan commemorated speaking to Mr Gadhvi last week. On chatting, both recollected various events happened during their shoot days – really special memories. “Sanju, when I spoke to you last week and we were reminiscing about our shoots and memories I would never have imagined even in my craziest dreams that I would have to write a post like this”, Mr Bachchan tried expressing his unpredicted emotional situation.

The actor was in utmost shock and went heartbroken. He said, “I’m shocked beyond belief”. He also acknowledged the faith and confidence Mr Gadhvi put on him even when Mr Bachchan hadn’t. “You had faith in me, even when I didn’t”. Mr Bachchan added that it was Mr Gadhvi who gave him the first ever hit in his career and expressed his strong-built gratitude to his friend-mentor.

“You gave me my first ever hit!!! I can never ever forget that or be able express what it meant to me. I will cherish your friendship always. Rest in peace my brother”, wrote Mr Bachchan.

Dhoom is the third-largest Bollywood film franchise in terms of box-office revenue. The first two instalments were directed by Mr Gadhvi while a third, released in 2013 as Dhoom 3, was by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
