A rise in Dengue cases are being reported from Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has tested positive for dengue.
As the monsoon progresses Dengue outbreaks in Bengaluru show a significant increase wherein 1,036 cases being identified in the past three weeks, according to news reports. This number constitutes a two-fold spike in comparison to the figures from the previous year.

Currently, the condition of BBMP chief is stable and he is resting at home.
Syed Sirajuddin Madani, chief health officer (public health) at BBMP told TOI that Nath was experiencing fatigue and fever over the last week. “We initially attributed his symptoms to work and stress. However, when he continued to feel unwell, we decided to test him for dengue,” TOI quotes as Madani is saying.
Meanwhile, the BBMP health officials reported that they are mitigating the situation by adopting control measures like awareness creation, house-to-house survey, and spraying and fogging to destroy mosquito-breeding grounds, the Deccan Herald reports.
In view of the surge in cases, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has formed high-level meetings with BBMP officials and health authorities to discuss further mitigating measures.

Similarly, health experts anticipate that dengue fever might be severe this year in Telangana, akin to the 2019 outbreak where more than 13,000 cases have been located.
Experts also states that spike in dengue cases was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, since people were careful and avoided stepping out, which delayed the dengue outbreak.
