A 28-year-old man tragically lost his life while undergoing a dental operation at Hyderabad’s FMS International Dental Clinic on Monday.
Laxmi Narayana Vinjam, the victim, was undergoing a smile designing procedure ahead of his marriage when the unfortunate incident occurred, sparking allegations of negligence against the hospital.
Vinjam’s family blamed the hospital’s negligence for his untimely death, alleging that an excessive dose of anesthesia administered during the procedure led to his death. According to reports, Vinjam fell unconscious after the anesthesia was administered and was subsequently shifted to Apollo Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Expressing anguish over his loss, Vinjam’s father, Ramulu Vinjam, stated that his son had not informed them about the surgery, emphasizing that the responsibility for his death lies with the doctors. The family filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police, leading to the registration of an FIR under Section 304(A) (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
Jubilee Hills police inspector K Venkateshwar Reddy confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem, with officials awaiting the report to ascertain the cause of death, as per a report in The News Minute. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing, with authorities examining hospital records and security camera footage.
The tragic incident has cast a shadow over FMS International Dental Clinic, located on Road No. 37, Jubilee Hills, as questions of accountability and patient safety come to the forefront. The incident brings forth the sobering reality of medical mishaps and the importance of stringent safety protocols in healthcare facilities.
