On the occasion of inaugurating two academic blocks in the Delhi Technological University (DTU) on Thursday, Senior AAP leader and Delhi Education Minister Atishi Marlena remembered Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on his contribution to the growth of the university.

Taking to social media platform X, Atishi writes that it was Mr Sisodia who laid the foundation for the academic blocks at DTU, and expansion of the university was “always one of his dearest edu projects.”

“Manish sir, it is and will always be an honour to take your work forward, and finish what you began,” she added. Atishi has also shared a photo of plaque featuring Mr Sisodia”s inauguration of academic block-3.

Atishi along with Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated 2 academic blocks in the DTU. The blocks consists of 67 smart classes, and 36 labs catering for 5300 students from various fields. The buildings reflects modern engineering and technology, and they are driven by “solar power, rain harvesting, sensor based LED systems and so much more,” Atishi said in a tweet.

Besides education, Atishi currently handles the Ministries of P.W.D, Culture and Tourism. An educator and Rhodes scholar, Ms Marlena previously served as  an Advisor to Mr Sisodia with particular focus on education from July 2015 to 17 April 2018.

Mr Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February in a money laundering case connected to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise policy. Following, another arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case was made on March 9. Recently, apex court of India dismissed his bail application on the ground that money trail allegations of Rs 338 crore is “tentatively established.” Earlier, Delhi High Court rejected AAP leader’s bail pleas in both cases as well.
