Bengaluru has witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday, continuing into the early hours of Monday, resulting in waterlogging and traffic disruptions across different parts of the city. On several important roads, the traffic department has issued an alert for slow-moving traffic.

Bengaluru traffic police reported heavy waterlogging at Outer Ring Road (ORR) between Nagawara Junction and Hebbala, Hebbal flyover, Veerasandra on E-city elevated road, ORR at Marathalli, Karthik Nagar and Kalyan Nagar, Puttenahalli, Varthur Kodi and Sakra Hospital to Bellandur.

Besides, waterlogging was also located at Jayadeva underpass on Bannerghatta Road, Rupena Agrahara towards Silk Board, Panathur Railway underpass, and MS Palya Road towards Yelahanka. The traffic was also slowed down due to Bengaluru metro work and vehicle breakdowns.

For the day, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Bangalore may witness isolated heavy rain/thundershowers.

“Moderate rain/thundershowers very likely to occur at a few places over Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar districts. Moderate rain very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely to occur at a few places over the remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka. Mostly dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of North Interior Karnataka and light rain likely to occur at isolated places,” the weather department said.

Furthermore, isolated heavy rain/thundershowers are likely to occur over Ramanagara, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, and Chikkaballapura districts, the weather department predicted for August 13.
