A 34-year-old software engineer, Atul Subhash died by suicide at his residence in Marathahalli, after leaving a 24-page death note and wearing a t-shirt on which a sheet of paper read ‘Justice is Due’ stuck on it.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, the techie lived in Manjunath Layout in Marathahalli police station limits in Bengaluru. He worked as a senior executive for a private firm in the city and had been living alone after separating from his wife. The suicide note which was found at Atul’s home had four handwritten pages, while the other 20 pages were printed.

In the letter, the techie allegedly blamed his wife and her family for the harassment he had suffered, attributing it to persistent marital strife. He had also emailed it to several people and shared it with a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was involved with.
Moreover, Subhash had also pasted key details on a cupboard, including information about his death note, vehicle keys, and a list of completed and pending tasks.
As per News 18 report, Subhash before taking the drastic step had recorded a video and shared it on social media. Atul began the video by introducing himself, “Hello world, my name is Atul Subhash. I am almost 34 years old. I live in Bangalore. Today, I am going to commit suicide. I believe that it is best for me to kill myself. Because I am making my enemy stronger with the money I am earning. The same money is being used to destroy me. And this cycle will continue to increase.”
“My wife has registered nine cases against me. Six cases are in the lower court and three in the high court,” Subhash said in the video he recorded before taking this drastic step.
Subhash wrote that his wife who already receives Rs 40,000 every month as maintenance despite working at Accenture and earning her own money and yet she had demanded Rs 2-4 lakh more.

The cases his wife had filed against him included charges such as murder, dowry harassment, and unnatural sex, among others.
The Bengaluru police have registered a case against Subash’s wife and her family members based on the complaint filed by his brother. In his complaint, Subash’s brother said that the wife and her family had “fabricated false cases and demanded a settlement of 3 crore rupees for these cases”.
