Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra modi on the the standard map released by the Chinese establishment that included Indian territories as China”s territory. The government had on Tuesday lodged its protest through diplomatic channels on “the so called 2023 “standard map” of China that lays claim to India’s territory”.
China”s new standard map shows Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory. The map also claims Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea. Taiwan, the island country sees itself as sovereign nation.
“I have been saying for years that what the PM said, that not one inch of land was lost in Ladakh, is a lie. The entire Ladakh knows that China has transgressed. This map issue is very serious. They have taken away the land. PM should say something about it,” Rahul Gandhi said while leaving for Karnataka.
Mr Gandhi was leaving for Karnataka to participate in the launch of Karnataka government”s Gruha Lakshmi Yojana’ in Mysore.
It has ‘no basis’, Indian External Ministry expressed strong protest over the Chinese Standard Map 2023, on Tuesday.
“We have lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side on the so called 2023 “standard map” of China that lays claim to India’s territory,” said Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
