Delhi minister Atishi on Friday informed that the pension for the elderly have been resumed. She said that the BJP government at the Centre had stopped the old age pension for the last five months and Kejriwal government has fought hard to get it resumed. The pending pension amount has started credited to the bank accounts of the senior citizens, the minister added.

AAP leader shared the news through her social media platform X. “For the last 5 months, the BJP government at the Centre had stopped the old age pension of 1 lakh elderly people of Delhi. The elderly were very upset. I am happy to inform you that the Kejriwal government has fought hard and has got the pension of the elderly resumed. The pension of the last 5 months has started getting credited to the bank accounts of the elderly,” she tweeted.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday slammed Kejriwal government over delay in the payment of pension schemes to senior citizens since 2018.

Earlier, former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri had also attacked AAP for not providing pension to senior citizens and also stated that children are dying after falling into open drains due to the Delhi government’s negligence. The government led by Arvind Kejriwal only blames others, Bidhuri added.

BJP legislators criticised that during the elections, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised to implement the pension scheme for the senior citizens, but failed to fulfill it.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been receiving attacks from the Delhi BJP over delaying projects and mismanagement of the city.
