Thane, Maharashtra: On Wednesday, police said that they have registered a case against a man for allegedly kicking and assaulting a female receptionist at a private clinic in Kalyan, in Thane, after a video of the same went viral on social media. The viral video showed a man aggressively moving forward towards a female receptionist and kicking and physically attacking the woman while the bystanders were watching.

As per the victim, Sonali, the accused Gokul Jha, a patient’s relative, attacked her when she informed him that his turn to meet the doctor was yet come. She said the accused man initially used abusive language and then physically attacked her, adding that the man fled when the onlookers threatened to file a complaint against him.

Notably, a video which was released later showed the woman allegedly slapping the accused man’s family member before she was assaulted by him. An X user, Lala, shared the full video and wrote, “Reality isn’t always what we see. Half the truth is hidden. That the receptionist slapped her own family member first,” adding that, despite this, the way the accused man behaved in retaliation could be justified.

 

As per the account of Rupali, the victim’s elder sister, the accused man assaulted her sister after she informed him that his turn to meet the doctor had not yet come. After hearing this, the man got enraged and used abusive words and then attacked the victim.

“She has been taken for an X-ray, and a CT scan has already been performed,” NDTV quoted Rupali.

Dr. Jitendra Gupta, associated with the hospital where the woman is undergoing treatment, condemned the incident, stating that no ordinary person can attack someone, especially a woman, in this manner.
