Since Thalapathy Vijay made a bold entrance into Tamil Nadu politics, he hosted the first state conference, “Maanadu,” on Sunday for his new party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), at Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu’s Viluppuram district.
The event drew over 8 lakh supporters across the state showcasing Vijay’s influence and hinting at his intention to compete with major parties. Vijay greeted his sea of supporters and party workers acknowledging their fervent cheers as they waved TVK flags.
He addressed a deluge of audiences outlining TVK’s values that emphasised equality with the slogan “One caste, one god.” He stated that all party members would be treated equally and criticised traditional political speech styles, saying, “Politics must change and grow, just like science and technology.”

Vijay acknowledged Periyar as TVK’s ideological leader, reminiscing his principles of women’s education, equality and social justice, but not his atheistic stance.
Vijay also honoured female leaders like Velu Nachiyar and Anjalai Ammal as icons stressing their inspirational value. He took subtle jabs at the DMK and accused them of exploiting Tamil Nadu under the Dravidian model.
Vijay addressed critics dismissing him as merely an actor, saying, “They called MGR and NTR actors, but we will conquer.” “They too were called actors, yet they went on to rule their states. Like them, I will conquer as well,” he promised his supporters.
The debut speech surprised many with its directness and power. He used subtle words creating a buzz in Tamil Nadu politics.
Vijay talked about TVK‘s guiding ideology, quoting DMK founder C.N. Annadurai’s principle “ondre kulam, oruvane thevan.” The party intends to contest in Tamil Nadu seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin wished Vijay well, saying, “I wish my dear friend Vijay all the best for his future.”
He had earlier announced the formation of his party in February 2024, with plans to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for 2026.
