NSUI Expresses Concern Over Violence Against International Students

New Delhi, March 17, 2024:  In response to recent reports of violence against international students at Gujarat University, NSUI National President Varun Choudhary, has penned a letter to Shri. S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India, expressing grave concern over the matter.

The students from Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka were allegedly attacked by a group of people in their hostel rooms at Gujarat University.

In his letter, Varun Choudhary urged the government to take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of all international students studying in India. He emphasized the importance of upholding India”s reputation as a welcoming and inclusive destination for students from around the world.

In a symbolic gesture to promote love and solidarity, Varun Choudhary has also included a bouquet of flowers along with the letter to Minister Jaishankar.

Meanwhile, the attacked students blamed the police reached on to the spot after the intruders had fled. Videos of the attack have gone viral on social media.

The attackers with sticks and knives stormed into the hostel attacked the foreign students and vandalized them. The students have said that the security guard of the hostel tried to stop them but failed. A student from Afghanistan said people in the mob raised slogans and raised questions that who allowed them to offer namaz in the hostel. The student alleged that the mob broke laptops, and phones and even damaged bikes.
