India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day today, and all the political leaders have extended their wishes to the countrymen on behalf of the special occasion.

Wishing the people of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X, “Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!”

Union Minister Amit Shah extended his warm wishes to the country on the occasion while paying tributes to the heroes of India’s freedom struggle.

“Heartiest greetings of Independence Day to all the countrymen. Today is the day for all Indians to express their loyalty to the nation, their duty and their gratitude to the martyrs. I salute all those freedom fighters who contributed to freeing the country from the shackles of slavery. Come, let us all today take a pledge to take India to the forefront of the world and build the India of the dreams of the freedom fighters,” he wrote on X in Hindi.

Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with extending his wishes to countrymen also highlighted the values of democracy on his X post. “Heartiest greetings of Independence Day to all the countrymen. Meanwhile, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on X, “Democracy and the Constitution are the biggest shields for our 140 crore Indians. We will protect it till our last breath.”

“Happy Independence Day to all my brothers and sisters!! Our freedom fighters sacrificed everything to earn this freedom. On this historic day, I pay my deepest respect to them for their selfless love for the motherland,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on X.
