Rahul Gandhi Blames 'Lack Of Accountability' For Urban Disasters After Noida Engineer Death, Gujarat Water Tank Collapse
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has accused the government of enabling urban disasters due to lack of accountability after recent incidents such as the death of 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta, whose car fell into an unmarked 25- to-30-foot construction pit in Noida’s Sector 150 on January 16, and the collapse of water tank in Surat on Monday, January 19.
Using the acronym TINA (There Is No Accountability), the Congress leader listed disasters like killer roads, bridges, fires, water, pollution, corruption, and indifference to prove his allegation.

A 15-meter-high tank in Tadkeshwar village in Gujarat collapsed on Monday during a test trial after authorities filled the tank with nine liters of water. The initiative was part of a Rs 21 crore project by Jenti Super Agency to serve 14 villages under Jal Jeevan Mission for the Gay Pagla Group Water Supply Scheme, and was meant to hold 11 lakh liters. The incident triggered frustrations among the villagers on poor craftmanship using public fund.
In Noida’s incident, rescue delays and poor coordination led to the engineer’s death by asphyxia and cardiac arrest. Though Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath removed the Noida Authority CEO and ordered a probe, the opposition linked the incident to broader issues including lack of accountability.
