
Road Rage, Not Language Attack: IAF Officer Booked In Big Twist To Bengaluru Assault Case
Bengaluru, Karnataka: Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose has been booked by Bengaluru police in connection with a road rage incident, following a complaint received from bike rider Vikas Kumar.
The incident took place on April 18, as Bose and his wife Squadron leader Madhumita were heading to the Airport to catch a flight. Later, he uploaded a video on social media platform, with a bloodied face, alleging that he had been attacked by the rider of a two-wheeler.

As per his claims, two-wheeler rider encountered them while they were traveling from the C V Raman Nagar DRDO enclave. The biker had forced the car to stop and entered into an argument with them. And during this argument, biker abused the IAF officers for not speaking Kannada and allegedly attacked Bose. He then added that local people didn’t interfere while the incident taking place. Soon, the social media outrage broke defending the officer and condemning the attack.
However, CCTV footage which emerged later showed Bose hitting bike rider Vikas Kumar multiple times, while locals repeatedly interfering to pull the officer back.

Based on this video recordings, Bengaluru Police have dismissed the claim that conflict stemmed from language angle. DCP (Bengaluru East) Devraj clarified to the media that the altercation had nothing to do with Kannada.
“This is not a language-related issue. The altercation began when Bose’s wife questioned the biker for coming from the wrong side. It escalated into a scuffle, as we often see in road rage incidents across Bengaluru,” the Hindustan Times quoted the DCP as saying.

After receiving a formal complaint from Kumar, police registered an FIR and Wing Commander has been booked under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 304 (snatching), 324 (mischief), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Bengaluru Police says that they are collecting further evidence and investigation is progressing. As per media reports, they are expected to summon Wing Commander soon for questioning. Meanwhile, ‘#ArrestWingCommander’ is trending on X.
