Yadgir, Karnataka: In a heart-wrenching accident, seven individuals from the same family were charred to death when the car they were traveling in allegedly collided head-on with a private bus. The incident occurred near Shantpur Cross in Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district on Friday, April 17, The New Indian Express reported. The impact of the collision was severe, causing the car to burst into flames moments after the crash, and all seven passengers of the car died on the spot.

Two children, aged five and one, sustained injuries and are in critical condition, according to Yadgir SP Pruthvik Shankar. The deceased are identified as Kriahna Nayak (52), a Town Panchayat member of Sir War in Raichur district, his wife Ananthakala (45), Sharanappa (36), his wife Nisarga (30), Siddhartha, son of Sharanappa (3), and Shashikala (30).

The victims are natives of Sir war town in Raichur district, and they were returning to their hometown after visiting the Venugopal Swami temple in Shorapur, the police said.

The private bus collided head-on with the car when they reached near Shantpur, and a fire broke out soon after the collision. Both the car and the bus were damaged in the incident. No fatalities were reported among the passengers in the bus, though the bus sustained significant damage to its front portion

Witnesses described the scene as devastating, with the vehicle quickly engulfed in flames, making rescue efforts extremely difficult. Locals rushed to help but were unable to intervene immediately due to the intensity of the fire. Fire and emergency services arrived at the scene and managed to douse the flames after several hours.

Police have launched a probe into the tragic accident. Preliminary findings suggest that high speed and possible negligence may have contributed to the accident.
