Students of Mumbai’s Thakur College were allegedly forced to attend an event hosted by Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal’s son, Dhruv Goyal. A video of a student raising the forceful participation through confiscation of their ID cards has gone viral.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the students of Thakur College of Science and Commerce were forced to walk up to attend an event in the seventh floor. They soon realized that the event was an attempt to woo new voters with BJP’s Piyush Goyal’s son, Dhruv Goyal as the spokesperson. The session entailed celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the saffron party’s achievements, according to a The Free Press Journal report.

A video of one of the students asked Goyal, “Sir, do you think this system, the Thakur College’s administration, is democratic enough to confiscate student ID’s and make them visit here compulsorily?” Followed by the applause and supportive cheer by fellow students, the student also stated that the college authorities had abused them for not following their orders.

Once Goyal left, the principal rebuked the students for their lack of cooperation. Notably, the students had an exam due the next day when they were forced to attend the event.

Moreover, students who were recording videos of the event were called after the event, and ordered to delete them. When they objected the action, the authorities reprimanded them.
