“Take Up Yoga And Meditation, Or Else...”: Kangana Ranaut's Note On Crime

Bollywood actress and MP-elected Kangana Ranaut today emphasised the importance of yoga and meditation in addressing psychological tendencies that lead to crime. Her note on X comes after she was allegedly slapped by CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur at the Chandigarh Airport. An FIR was registered against Kaur in Punjab on Friday.

According to Ranaut, every criminal act, whether it be rape, murder, or theft, is driven by strong emotional, physical, psychological, or financial reasons.

She stated that if someone is comfortable with violating another person’s intimate space, touching their bodies without permission, and assaulting them, they may also be comfortable with more severe crimes like rape or murder.

She urged individuals to reflect on their psychological tendencies and adopt yoga and meditation to avoid a life filled with bitterness, grudges, hate, and jealousy.

The constable has been booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), although no arrest has been made so far.

The CISF constable was initially detained and later suspended after Kangana reported the incident to CISF officials upon her arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Ranaut claimed that she was slapped and abused by Kaur at the Chandigarh Airport before boarding her flight to Delhi.

“I was hit on the face, abused. I am safe but concerned about terrorism in Punjab,” Ranaut said in a video uploaded on her X handle with the caption, “Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab.”

Meanwhile, farmer unions the SKM (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee announced their support for the suspended CISF constable, alleging that Kangana had called Kaur “Khalistan Kaur.”

Kaur, who has been on duty at the airport for the past two-and-a-half years, appeared on television channels after the incident, expressing her frustration with Ranaut’s statements during the farmers’ agitation.

“She (Kangana) made a statement that the farmers were sitting in protest for ₹100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she made this statement,” Kaur said.

It is also reported that Kaur was unhappy because Kangana referred to the protesting farmers as ‘Khalistanis.’

CISF DIG Vinay Kajla commented on the incident, saying, “It was an emotional outburst on her (the constable) part. She is apologetic about the incident. Her husband is also in the CISF and posted with the dog squad here.”
