Tamil Nadu Family’s Suicide Inside Parked Car 200 Km Away From Home

The police have recovered the bodies of a family of five in an abandoned car in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district. The tragic incident was brought into the limelight when people passing by noticed that the car had been parked in the same spot in Namanasamudram since the previous evening.

The victims were later identified as Manikandan, a 50-year-old businessman, his wife Nithya, mother Saroja, and their two children-a 15 year old girl and 17 year-old boy, according to local reports. The family has been found to hail from Salem. From the initial investigation, the police believe that the man had committed suicide, killing his family as well.

It is suspected that the victims had consumed poison. Reports also said that a suicide note has been recovered. The car had been in the same spot since 4 pm, September 24. Following morning, when the police arrived at the scene, they found the bodies seated inside the car. After discovering the occupants were dead, the police traced the car to Salem.

The motive behind the move is yet unclear. However, reports say that the deceased man, identified as Manikandan had a business and had run into debt. According to DT Next, police have recovered a note written by Manikandan.

The bodies have been sent to Pudukkottai Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
