"The Dictator Got Scared Again...":Congress As Nails, Barricades Deny Protesting Farmers Entry To Delhi

As the farmers from different states are calling to march to Delhi raising their demands, the central government is waiting for them at the national capital border with cement barricades, iron nails, suspension of internet, suspension of SMS services, and heavy police deployment. Reacting to the government”s extreme measures to block farmers, Congress referring to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the dictator got scared again.

Taking to X, Congress noted the heavy security arrangements being made at the Delhi border to prevent the farmers protesting the injustice of the Modi government from entering Delhi. It also asked the government to lister to the food providers demand and solve them.

“The dictator got scared again. Farmers upset with the injustice of Modi government are coming to Delhi. As soon as the Modi government got wind of this, nails were placed on the path of the farmers. The path was blocked with stones. The BJP government has shut down internet in many districts of Haryana. Our food providers are being treated like criminals. The government should listen to the farmers and solve their problems. But intoxicated with ego, PM Modi and his government have considered farmers as their enemies,” the translation of the post on X reads.

As per reports, police are fortifying borders near Delhi to prevent farmers from entering the national capital. Video that emerged on social media shows police placing fortified barricades, and nails in the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi and Haryana-Delhi borders. According to a senior police officer, in addition to placing barricades, the deployment of more than 5000 security personnel is underway, NDTV reported.

In Thursday’s sit-in demonstration by the farmers on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Police had put up barricades and stoops with heavy equipment to deal with the protesters if they try to cross the Delhi border. Heavy-duty bulldozers, backhoe machines, riot control vehicles and water cannons were parked at the border.

The situation had led to massive traffic jams as the police tried to monitor vehicles entering the capital city. DND, Chilla and Ghazipur borders had on Thursday witnessed heavy traffic snarls caused by the police checking as per the Delhi Traffic police.

The farmers since December last year have been protesting demanding hiked compensation and developed plots against their acquired land. However, as the protesters called for the march towards the parliament for the implementation of their demand, police have been heavily prepared to deal with the situation.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Saturday said that the central government has invited them to discuss their demand tomorrow (Monday) and a deputation of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha would conduct talks with three union ministers.

However, as per reports, more than 200 farmers” unions are likely to start their demonstration on February 13 demanding the enactment of a new law to assure a minimum support price (MSP) for crops among various other demands.
