According to the police, the incident was retaliation for the killing of gangster Arcot Suresh last year. However, the activists and associates of the BSP leader have alleged a deeper conspiracy behind the killing.
The police have said that they are also looking into the alleged feud between Suresh and Armstrong to uncover the background.
Police are also investigating the sources linked to the political heavyweights involved in the Aarudhra gold scam, according to a report by The Week, citing unknown sources.
Notably, Armstrong was only accompanied by two people from his apartment in Ayanavaram to the house construction site when he was killed, and usually over ten people were around him. He also possesses a licensed gun for his safety, but on the day, he reportedly left the gun at home, which he usually carried, as per a report by The New Minute.
