"Treat Me Like Sister, Not Minister": Telangana Cabinet Minster To Employees

Telangana’s Danasari Anasuya Seethakka took charge as Cabinet Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and women & child welfare. The lawyer and PhD holding MLA is known for her kindness and open heart. The 52-year-old Congress MLA of Telangana have a beautiful story of transformation from an underground naxalite to an MLA. The newly elected Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy calls her “sister”.

On her social media platform X (formerly twitter), she shared a footage of herself talking to her “cabinet department employees”. She wrote down on her post that she asked her “cabinet department employees to treat me like their family member like sister not like a minister”, as they have a big task ahead. She added that roads and drinking water facilities in every village is the top priority. She also thanked everyone for the great welcome she received.

Danasari Anasuya joined Maoist movement when she was just 14 years old. She grew to become a commandant of the extremist group. She even went to jail for her activities, but then she gave it all up in 1997. She gave birth to a son, of whom she and her husband had to give up, as those in then extremist movement was not allowed to raise children. The son was later found by Seethakka’s mother and raise him by herself.

She parted from her husband over “ideological differences” after she left Maoism. She became a lawyer and earned her PhD. She has been elected as MLA for three times from Mulugu, first in 2009 as a member of Telugu Desam and in 2018 and 2023 as Congress member from the same constituency.
