Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: In the village of Nebua Naurangia, three Muslim women were allegedly beaten and paraded naked over accusations that a Muslim boy from their family had eloped with a married Dalit girl. The incident reportedly occurred on January 2.

The three women claimed that members of the Dalit girl’s family broke into their home questioning them about the missing girl. According to reports, when the women told them they did not know her whereabouts, the girl’s family physically assaulted the boy’s mother and two aunts.

They were then allegedly stripped and dragged naked through the village. The girl’s family also burnt their clothes, claimed the victims.

Residing in Gorakhpur’s Gulriha police station area, the Dalit girl had gone missing a few days ago. Her family accused the Muslim boy of eloping with her.

One of the aunts of the boy alleged that nine women and four men had entered their homes and beat them.

The women claimed that the villagers stood as mute spectators without intervening. The accused reportedly recorded them while the women were being allegedly paraded naked.

According to reports, the boy’s mother fell ill soon after the incident and was admitted to a hospital. Currently, she and the other women are staying at a relative’s place.
