Elon Musk Supports Reforming H1-B Visa Program To Invite Talent

Amid the ongoing debate for recruiting talented individulas to make America great, concerns are raised by the people against companies who are misusing the H-1B visa. It is being arged that the ongoing system under the H-1B visa is not a program for the top 0.1% of talent as described, however, this is a way to recruit hundreds of thousands of relatively lower-wage IT and financial servcies professionals.

On one hand where the speculations are rising that the H1-B visa cap of current 7% can be removed or extended, contrary, the demands are raising domestically to reform H-1B visa process.

The Tesla CEO, Elon Musk who supports to bring the talented individuals for America’s progress has praised H-1B visa system. He wrote on X, “The reason i’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is becuae of H-1B”.

However, on the question of raising concern against the requirtment of flooding America with cheap labour, Elon Musk suggested reforms for H-1B visa system. While writing on ‘X’ he targeted the visa system and calls the programs as broken which needs major reform. To fix the sytem he suggested

  • To raise the minimum salaray significantly and;
  • Adding a yearly cost for maintaining the H1B, making it materially more expensive to hire from overseas than domestically.
