
Kerala Govt To Hike Salaries Of MLAs, Ministers; Opposition In Agreement: Report
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: After Karnataka, the left-led Kerala Government is considering a plan to hike the salaries of Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and ministers. The topic had been taken for discussion in a cabinet meeting, though it was postponed. The opposition parties are also in agreement with the salary hike of the MLAs and ministers, reports Twentyfournews.
The salary has to be revised as per the changing times, both the ruling and opposition opines. The last time the government hiked the salary of MLAs and ministers was in 2018. The MLAs are currently getting Rs 70,000 including allowance while the ministers receive Rs 97,000 including allowances.

In March this year, the Congress-ruled Karnataka government had approved a 100% salary hike for its MLAs and ministers, doubling their basic salary from Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000.
