Kozhikode: Madrasa Students Assaulted While Pasting Posters On Walls, Called 'Terrorists'; No Action Yet
Kozhikode, Kerala: In a shocking communal event, a group of Madrasa students were allegedly assaulted by Hindutva group Kozhikode’s Perambra. The students faced a communal slur and assault when they went to paste posters on a wall, reportedly after gaining prior permission from the owner.
The students were allegedly attacked with metal objects, beaten, kicked and called terrorists. The students had initially sought permission from the owner to paste posters on the wall owned by a private individual, and they were asked to come back at night to do their work.

However, when the students came back at night, the interaction turned hostile. The students alleged that they were questioned on the basis of religion and asked about the ongoing West Asian conflict, including Iran, Israel, Syria etc. When the students tried to escape, the accused assaulter locked up the gate, pushed them and hit them with a bangle. The attackers also made communal slurs.
Frightened, the students ran to a nearby restaurant while raising an alarm. The student who sustained injuries during the assault was initially admitted to the Per ambra Talk hospital and later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College the next day.

Notably, what is more concerning is that despite the institution filing a formal complaint against the accused persons, the police did not take any actions so far. The organization has called the move suspicious, adding that it would approach the child rights commission and other concerned authorities seeking action against the perpetrators.
The fraternity movement has warned that such incident could disturb communal harmony in the state, while pointing out that even school-aged students were targeted, noting the seriousness. They further alleged that the individuals involved in the incident included people associated with defense services.
