Milk Price To Rise By Rs 4: Kerala Government Approves Hike To 'Support Dairy Farmers'

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Kerala government has approved a proposal to increase the milk price by Rs 4 to Rs 6 per litre. The proposal was submitted by Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma)

The expected price hike for milk in the state would be Rs 4 per litre soon. According to the government source, the hike is intended to support dairy farmers facing rising production costs.

The final decision regarding the revised price will be announced after Milma’s board meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Milma had earlier demanded to raise milk price by around Rs 6.

In addition to the familiar name in Kerala’s kitchens, Milma is currently dispatching over three tonnes of its popular dairy products to Gulf countries, redefining Kerala’s presence in the global food market.

With a price hike expected soon, eateries may also be forced to raise prices. A cup of tea or coffee could cost more along with the increases in the milk price.
