'Politically Motivated': NDA Candidate Anjali Nair On Not Using Her Widely Known Screen Name On EVMs
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Amid the name row surrounding actor Anjali Nair, the NDA candidate from Thrippunithura in the Kerala Assembly elections, the actor alleged that it was the Returning Officer (RO) who ignored the High Court’s request to consider her request to display her widely recognized screen name on ballot labels and Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)s.
As per the official record, her name would stand as Anjali PV, and not as Anjali Nair.

Anjali maintained that she is popularly known as “Anjali Nair” in the film industry and among the public throughout her election campaign including in posters and publicity.
The actor’s request to change the name in the election record including in EVMs and ballot labels was rejected earlier. While hearing the NDA candidate’s plea to change the name, the High Court on Saturday, April 4, had directed the RO to take a sympathetic decision the same day.
Despite that, Anjali claims, her plea was mercilessly rejected, adding that she would seek justice by approaching the court again. While rejecting her request, RO cited procedural lapses and timing constraints in taking the decision. The RO further noted the absence of any documented proof of an earlier request.
