Woman Denied Entry To Mishkal Mosque Quips: 'Should I Travel To Space First Like Sunita Williams?
Kozhikode, Kerala: A woman, identified as Fousiya Arif recently took to her social media platform Facebook, complaining that she was denied entry to the historical Mishkal Mosque located in Kuttichira, Kozhikode.
“Didn’t they allow Sunita Williams?” Fousiya asked in her mind, thinking she would also be allowed to go inside the mosque and see the historic site. However, she was denied permission, leaving her disappointed.

Fousiya sarcastically penned that women are allowed to board only if they have at least been to space, implying that noted NASA astronaut Sunita Williams visited the historic Mishkal Mosque, as part of an official heritage walk during the Kerala Literature Festival.
Her visit generated significant public discourse and social media debate. While many admired the historic site and welcomed her visit, it simultaneously sparked discussions regarding local gender restrictions.

Though I had been to space many times via Facebook, I was still not allowed to enter, the woman hilariously noted, while registering her protest. “At least historical monuments should have doors that can be opened without distinction between men and women,” Fousiya wrote on Facebook.
