The discussion around the general election and its announcement is on, with many expecting the declaration of the date soon after the Ram Temple inauguration, which is scheduled to be held on January 22.

The Ram temple event is widely seen as a major ‘achievement’ of the ruling BJP-led government and the event will also mark as a fulfillment of the election promise made by the Modi government before two previous general elections – in 2014 and 2019. Apart from that, the government has given utmost importance to the event so much so that it is regarded as a direct state-sponsored temple consecration ceremony. The event will, without doubt, give BJP a significant edge over other political rivals in the country, and the BJP hence is ready to extract maximum political benefits out of the Ram temple inauguration.
The prime minister Narendra Modi while addressing a rally last week appealed to the people of the country to celebrate Diwali in their houses on January 22, which is the day the Ram temple will be inaugurated at Ayodhya. He also asked the people to visit Ayodhya at their convenience after the ceremony.
In his speech, the prime minister also made it clear that Ayodhya will witness massive infrastructure development, suggesting that the religious importance of Ayodhya and its development will be sponsored by the BJP dispensation. The affiliated organizations of the ruling party such as RSS are also working hard to make the event “jan Utsav” by conducting promotional campaigns across the country.
However, it is learnt that the BJP is looking to reap the political advantages of the Ram Temple event while showcasing it to be one of its greatest achievements. With the potential consolidation of the BJP vote bank which is expected after the Ram Temple inauguration, a subject that changed Indian politics, the BJP expects to amass the emotional and religious support and sympathy of thousands of Hindus. Therefore, the best and most strategic time for the announcement of the 2024 general election for the ruling BJP will be none other than post the Ram Temple inauguration
