Lok Sabha Elections Results 2024 reveal a strong victory for the BJP, with Manohar Lal Khattar winning by a margin of 232,577 votes, securing a total of 739,285 votes against Divyanshu Buddhiraja of the Congress party.

The electoral contest spanned the entire Karnal and Panipat districts, engaging a broad swath of voters across the region.

The Karnal Lok Sabha constituency comprises five assembly segments from the Karnal district: Nilokheri, Indri, Karnal, Gharaunda, and Assandh.

In the previous 2019 General Assembly Elections, Sanjay Bhatia of the BJP secured a decisive victory with 909,432 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Kuldip Sharma of the INC, by a margin of 654,269 votes.

The 70-year-old is running for parliamentary elections for the first time after serving as Chief Minister from October 26, 2014, until his resignation on March 12, 2024. This outcome reinforces the constituency’s political leanings and highlights the former Chief minister’s power.

When the party nominated Khattar for the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, he resigned as MLA from the Karnal Assembly constituency, making way for his successor and the party’s state president, Nayab Saini.

Khattar joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1977 and became a full-time pracharak (worker) in 1980. He served in this role for fourteen years before moving to the BJP in 1994.
