Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: TMC Sajda Ahmed Secured Victory In Uluberia With A Margin of 2,18,673 Votes

TMC candidate Sajda Amhed is set to represent Uluberia third time in the lower house as she has won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from the Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency with a total of 2,18,673 vote margin. BJP candidate Arunuday Paul Chowdhury has secured the runner-up position.

Sajda Ahmed is the two-time-elected TMC MP from Uluberia, West Bengal. She is a graduate of the University of Calcutta and a social worker. Sajda Ahmed is the wife of late Sultan Ahmed, the former TMC Union Minister of Tourism. The Uluberia Lok Sabha seat was earlier won by Sultan Ahmed in 2009 and later Sajda Ahmed won the by-election in 2018-19 in the parliamentary constituency.

Earlier the constituency was a Communist party bastion however, since 2009 the seat has been a TMC stronghold.

In 2019, Sajda Ahmed secured 53% votes to win the seat and the BJP candidate Joy Banerjee lost the election to Sajda with 36.58% votes. The CPI (M) candidate Maksuda Khatun secured 6.20% votes.

In 2018, by-elections Sajda Ahmed won the Uluberia constituency with a remarkable 61% votes. However, the BJP and CPI (M) candidates remained second and third with 23.29% votes and 11.04% votes.

In 2014, the TMC candidate Sultan Ahmed won 48.12% votes and CPI (M) candidate Sabiruddin Molla and BJP candidate Ranjit Kishore Mahaty secured 31.15% votes and 11.56% votes respectively.
