Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: TMC's Pratima Mondal Won On Joynagar Seat With Over 4.7 Lakh Votes

On the Joynagar Lok Sabha seat, the TMC candidate Pratima Mondal won with a whopping 4,70,219 votes against the BJP candidate Ashok Kandari.

The Joynagar constituency is reserved for Scheduled Castes and TMC was represented by the two-time MP Pratima Mondal against Dr. Ashok Kandari of the BJP.
Pratima Mondal was destined to enter politics since her mother, Gobinda Chandra Naskar, was an MP from Basanti and the head of the TMC’s OBC Cell. Currently serving as the MP for the Joynagar constituency, Pratima Mondal holds an MA in History from the University of Calcutta.

Joynagar was a leftist bastion till TMC candidate Pratima Mondal represented the parliamentary seat in 2014. In 2019, the TMC candidate secured 56.13% votes, BJP candidate Ashok Kandari secured 32.77 percent the votes and RSP Subhas Naskar got 5.01% votes.

In 2014, the TMC candidate Pratima Mondal secured 41.71% votes and won the Joynagar Lok Sabha seat whereas RSP Subhas Naskar got 32.58% votes. The SUCI (C) candidate Tarun Mandal received 9.90 percent votes.

In 2009, the SUCI (C) Tarun Mandal secured the Joynagar seat with 48.72 percent votes by defeating Nimai Barman of RSP.
