"Modi Washing Powder" Gives You Clean-Chit: Congress On Praful Patel And Others

Congress leader Pawan Khera held an unusual Congress party briefing on Saturday. With a washing machine on the dais, Khera announced the arrival of “BJP’s washing machine” and a “Modi washing powder” in the market that will remove the stains of corruption, chit fund, coal scam, or any other stain, taunting the saffron party over the CBI’s closure report in the 2017 corruption case against NDA’s Praful Patel.

Khera alleged that the washing machine cost Rs 8,552 crore, referring to the amount the BJP received through electoral bonds. The machine is considered an expert in removing stains that are over a decade old, mocked Khera.

“Not only does it clean quickly, but you would be shocked to know that it has a SPIN button. When you turn the SPIN button, then it will turn a scamster into an honest nationalist,” Khera explained. He went on to add that the SLOW button would slow down any inquiry about a person who joined the BJP.

To demonstrate the ‘features’, Khera then whipped out a white T-shirt with words such as “FIR,” “corruption,” “rapist,” “terrorist,” “scam,” “extortion,” “murder,” and “fraud” written on it. After displaying the shirt to everyone, a party member puts it in the washing machine as Khera instructs him to turn on the “SPIN” button. Out comes a brand new, clean white shirt with the following written on it: “BJP Modi Wash.”

Citing the example of Praful Patel, the former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, who, after joining the NDA in Maharashtra, saw the CBI’s closure report in the 2017 “Air India scam.” The case was listed in the BJP’s chargesheet against the UPA government in 2014. The corruption case included a large number of Air India airlines that were leased to private players in 2006, leading to huge losses worth over Rs 3,000 crore for Air India, said Khera. He also pointed out the BJP’s allegations against Patel involving a property deal with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts accused Iqbal Mirchi, which are now absent from the discussion.

Khera listed out other names that had undergone a similar “Modi wash,” including Narayan Rane, Ajit Pawar, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Ashok Chavan.

Questioning the authenticity of the saffron party’s chargesheet against Patel and others, Khera asked whether it was used for mudslinging or to force opponents into supporting the BJP. “If the charges were right, what are they doing in your alliance? Why are the cases being closed? And if the charges were wrong, why were they wrongly accused? Please apologise, Mr. Modi,” stated Khera.

Concluding the conference, Khera assured that every single officer who “willingly became a party to undermine our democracy and our constitution” would be brought to court and punished accordingly. “No one will be spared,” he added.
