In a gripping electoral battle, Varun Chaudhary of the Congress Party emerged victorious in the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency, defeating BJP’s Smt. Banto Kataria by a significant margin of 49,036 votes. Varun Chaudhary clinched the Ambala seat with a total of 663,657 votes.
In the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election, he represented Congress as a candidate and went on to defeat BJP’s Rajbir Singh by a margin of 1,688 votes. In March 2021, Chaudhary was awarded the ‘Best Legislator Award’ for his contributions to the states’ assembly. Chaudhary hence, leveraged his legal background and his previous success as a legislator gaining votes in this Lok Sabha election.
The BJP, which had previously secured all 10 seats in Haryana during the last Lok Sabha polls, faced a formidable challenge from both the Congress and the JJP in this Lok Sabha Election losing from Haryana CM’s stronghold, considerable vote shift to Congress in Ambala constituency.
