Madhya Pradesh: Journalist Shot Dead In Rajgarh

A 35-year-old journalist named Salman Khan was shot dead in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. He had been working for Dastak news, an Indore-based YouTube channel.

As per the police reports, Khan was sitting on a scooter with his son near a hospital when three attackers on a bike and shot him from close range.

“Salman Khan was sitting on his scooty on the Hospital Road with his nine-year-old son. Three people came on a bike and shot him. On hearing the gunshot, crowd gathered at the spot and informed the police,” Sarangpur police station in-charge Akanksha Haada told the Hindustan Times.

The incident was informed around 9 pm. Though Police reached the spot and took him to the hospital he was declared dead on arrival.

As per the reports from the witnesses, attackers shot Khan without prior warning. Police are currently examining the CCTV footage from the area and are attempting to identify the assailants.

“We have information about the suspected killers, and they would be caught soon,” the HT quotes, as the officer is saying.

This is the second time Salman Khan got attacked in the past one year. On February 9, 2023 he received attack due to a personal dispute with a local resident named Shahrukh. The attackers, according to Police observation, believed to be hired by Shahrukh, used knives and swords and left Khan critically injured. Khan had accused that the attack was in retribution for a previous incident where Shahrukh had assaulted his brother, Times of India reports.

Police have filed a case under section 103 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and investigations are progressing.
