PWD and Tourism Minister PA Mahammad Riyas has announced the completion of the temporary bridge in place of the destroyed one in the massive landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad. The bridge has been built to connect the isolated Mundakkai area, where many people are believed to have stranded. At least 489 have been rescued through the bridge, according to a social media post by the minister.
The landslide during the wee hours today devastated the Chooralmala and Mundakkai regions, with bridges collapsed, buildings destroyed, and people lost their lives. As the death toll has been raising over 128, efforts have been put to rescue as many as possible stranded people in Mundakkai, which remains secluded due to the massive landslides.

The temporary bridge was reportedly constructed jointly by the army and fire and rescue teams, which has accelerated the rescue efforts in the disaster-hit areas. According to reports by local news channels, many people are still trapped in several isolated areas. While death toll reached 128, ver 800 people have been rescued so far by different forces in place.
The search operation has been undergoing. The efforts will continue tomorrow, as many are feared lying under the mud.
