Pakistan”s police officer ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi”s brave act is garnering praises in both public and social media.

Earlier this month, ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi saved a woman in Lahore’s Ichra Bazar from a violent mob. When the mob mistakenly accused her of blasphemy and gathered around her posing woman”s life in danger, ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi and a few shopkeepers intervened and her protection helped in averting the mishap.

The incident sparked as the mob mistook Arabic prints in women”s attire as Quranic verses, and alleged that she hurt the religious sentiments. The Arabic prints, as per the reports, were not a Quranic verse and it actually meant “beautiful”. In Pakistan, blasphemy is a sensitive issue and the country has strict laws and severe penalties for blasphemous acts.
