An advocate’s post about her junior reporting late to the office after taking overtime on the previous day has gone viral on social media. The post shared by Ayush Doshi has now garnered more than 7.5 million views.
Sharing the screenshot of the message sent by her junior on X, she wrote, “I can’t believe my junior sent me this. Today’s kids are something else. He stayed late, so now he’s going to show up late to the office to “make up” for it. What a move! i am speechless mahn.”

Her post triggered conversations about work-life balance and generational differences in the workplace. Clarifying her stance, Doshi said that her junior had been given a three-day deadline to complete the task, typically needing one full day. Meanwhile, her regular hours were from 10 am to 7 pm. She claimed he had spent considerable time on his phone, which had affected his productivity.
“When there’s a deadline to meet, sometimes a bit of extra time is necessary to get everything done!” Doshi further explained in her post.
Several netizens found nothing wrong with the junior’s attitude towards work and wanting to make up for the extra hours he put in the night before. “They are setting certain things right,” one said. Another wrote with a similar tone: “What’s wrong with that!”
However, responding to the comments justifying the junior’s action, Doshi made another post. “To everyone commenting, let me clarify the situation. He was given a 3 deadline to complete a task that usually requires at least one full day of work. His working hours were from 10 AM to 7 PM, but if he wasn’t able to finish within that time frame, he had to put in an barely 1.5 hours to complete the task,” she wrote.
To which another user posted, “With due respects, deadlines comes at cost so as his right to come at compensatory time . If he has to stretch , a flexibility to extend entry time must be considered . I think practical life must be cool beyond deadline.”
It’s honestly hilarious how people are hating on me for this post. First of all, the person in question is clearly not serious about the job. They waste most of their time on their phone, show up late all the time, and leave work unfinished, pushing it to the next day. Even then,… https://t.co/p8kYq595Pr

“They waste most of their time on their phone, show up late all the time, and leave work unfinished, pushing it to the next day. Even then, it doesn’t get done. If you’re agreeing with the text, please understand the full backstory before attacking me and calling me a bad senior. I’m not making them stay late and burn out their mental or physical health. Asking for compensation just for sitting an extra day is unreasonable, this isn’t how corporate or any business works. Let’s focus on practical solutions before labeling anyone as toxic,” she added.
Moreover, she had also stated that the person whose text message was shared by Doshi was not reporting to her, and she had just shared the screenshot sent on her official group.
