Though no gold was claimed on Gandhi Jayanthi, Indian contingent came back with nine medals on Day 10 including two gold medals. Athletes continues to clinch gold for India at Hangzhou Asian Games 2023.

Annu Rani and Parul Chaudhary made a remarkable achievement by clinching gold medals in women’s javelin throw and women’s 5000m. Parul finished with timing 15:14.75 overtaking Japan’s Ririka Hironaka in the final moment of the race. Both Annu and Paul won the nation’s first ever gold medals in javelin and 5000m. While Anu Rani clinched the gold medal in the javelin throw event with a 62.92m throw.

At the same time, Tejaswin Shankar smashed the national record by winning the men’s decathlon silver. Mohammad Afsal won the silver medal in the men’s 800m.

Praveen Chitharavel, national record holder for men’s triple jump unfortunately had to settle for bronze. Meanwhile, Vithya Ramaraj won the women’s 400m hurdles bronze.

India men’s cricket team entered the semifinals after a 23-run win against Nepal. Yashasvi Jaiswal took his first century, becoming the youngest T20 century maker from India.

India’s second canoeing medal was secured in the men’s double 1000m. They have bagged the bronze medal. Both men and women’s team in the kabaddi event performed well. The men’s team made a good start by beating the Bangladesh for 55-18. While women’s team cornered Hong Kong China for 13-0.

World champion Lovlina Borgohain locked an Olympic quota for herself by moving to the final while Preeti Pawar had to settle for bronze on Tuesday.

Two gold, two silver and five bronze medals were added to India’s medal tally, reaching one short from 70. With the squash and boxing medals assured, India is all set to create a new record at Hangzhou Asian games.
