In the media release, BCCI assured of every possible assistance to the family and expressed confidence Gaekwad will come out of this phase strongly. The condition of the cricketer was brought to light by former Indian cricketer Sandeep Patil earlier this year.

Along with Dilip Vengsarkar, 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev also urged the BCCI for the financial help of the 71-year-old. He informed that he’s looking to arrange funds for Gaekwad along with several former cricketers Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar, Madan Lal, Ravi Shastri and Kirti Azad.
